ABWA Kicks Off New Programming for Seasoned Professionals

By Tamarra Brown

ABWA launched a new programming initiative specifically crafted for seasoned professionals with the Professional Women’s Kickoff Event September 12, 2026 at AmPac Business Capital.

The half day hybrid event featured networking, food, laughter and programming provided by Jeannine K Brown and Renea J Pierre, cofounders of Forje, Inc. In all, 25 ABWA members and potential members attended virtually and in person.

ABWA’s programming for seasoned professionals (5+ years of experience) is designed to introduce these members to professional development initiatives developed with their needs in mind as they move toward more senior and executive leadership positions.

“When I received the email about the Kickoff Event, I was immediately excited and signed up right away,” Virgadean Richmond said. “While much of the focus has understandably been on students and emerging professionals, those of us who have been in our careers for many years also need opportunities to continue learning, growing, and adapting. The Kickoff Event helped meet that need, and I look forward to attending more events like it.”

The day was marked by a warm atmosphere. Forje’s presentation and facilitation of this hybrid event were masterful. Both the opening icebreaker and the depth of the questions posed throughout the session created an experience that was simultaneously high energy and introspective. The result: a powerful impact on online and in-person participants alike. The two groups quickly melded into a single audience, and the time flew by. Participants left feeling energized and affirmed. “The Kickoff Event was powerful, inspiring and rejuvenating,” Patricia Batchlor said. “I say rejuvenating because each and every time I attend an ABWA Event I feel proud and honored to be in the company of such powerful and professional women. And proud to be a CPA.”
